"The Feast of The Barbarians"

Exhibition of the photographer Gérard Rancinan and the writer Caroline Gaudriault «The Feast of The Barbarians» in the church of Arts et Métiers Museum. From October 15th to November 3rd, 2013.

After dedicating seven years to their Trilogy of the Moderns, a project that confronted Man with the great upheavals of our times and which was exhibited in museums around the world, the photographer Rancinan, accompanied by the writer Caroline Gaudriault, pursue their journey, examining the great questions of contemporary humanity. With «The Feast of the Barbarians»,if they don’t always have the answers, they no longer find any excuses for human nature.

A PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPLOIT
«The Feast of the Barbarians» evokes the imaging of Mantegna’s and Leonardo Da Vinci’s classical paintings, shaking - at the same time - the codes of traditional compositions. Snapshot created and staged by Rancinan, the picture shows transformed, transgender, transgressive and terribly modern people in a real contemporary fresco printed in monumental size. These "barbarians" free themselves from social codes, from ways of life, from the human race, announcing a new civilization. «The Feast of the Barbarians», an in-between work, at the same time artistic and editorial work, proposes a point of view on our post-modern upheaval world.

«The Feast of the Barbarians» by Rancinan with the collaboration of Caroline Gaudriault and the comments of Boris Cyrulnik and David Engel, from October 15th to November 3rd at Arts et Métiers Museum.
